In international competition, especially in the so-called emerging markets, the practical importance of business ethics issues is becoming increasingly apparent. Governments, NGOs and other interest groups are placing increasingly high demands on companies, particularly in the Mediterranean and Middle East regions. These can relate to very different dimensions of corporate responsibility, such as working conditions in production facilities, ecologically sustainable resource management or the provision of education for local communities. For companies and countries in the region, the implementation of CSR measures can result in win-win situations and interesting projects. There is a growing demand for concrete information on how companies are meeting their social responsibilities in the Mediterranean and Middle East region.

We look forward to bringing the topic of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) closer to our members and interested parties at the upcoming Business Breakfast. In a small group, you will be able to benefit from our expertise in the conceptual design and implementation of CSR in the Mediterranean and Middle East region, share your own experiences and discuss specific issues.

Our speaker Anna-Lena Maier is an expert for business ethics and CSR in the Mediterranean and Middle East region at the University of Hamburg. She knows business practice from her own experience and is familiar with the expectations of various stakeholders for responsible and sustainable business practice. In her lecture, she will focus on possible approaches for effective and strategic CSR management in the region, highlight the challenges involved and focus on the corresponding expectations of governments with regard to corporate responsibility.
