First EMA Advisory Board Meeting at the Anglo-German Club Hamburg

On June 08, 2010 EMA invited to the first meeting of the advisory board. Numerous personalities from business and politics attended this event, which took place in the exclusive rooms of the venerable Anglo-German-Club e.V. Hamburg.

At the beginning of the evening, EMA President Prof. Dr. Horst H. Siedentopf warmly welcomed the guests and thanked them for the great interest in EMA and the commitment of the many volunteers.

Afterwards, the Executive Director of EMA, Dr. Abdelmajid Layadi, took the opportunity to welcome the guests. In a short presentation Dr. Layadi went into the successes of the EMA since its foundation in August 2008 and gave an outlook on the EMA activities in 2010 and 2011.

Tim Angerer from the Department of Social Affairs, Family, Health and Consumer Protection, provided information about the health care system during the course of the evening. Against the backdrop of the EMA event on university cooperation in the healthcare sector taking place in Munich on September 16, interest was high and the discussion correspondingly lively.

At the end of the lecture series, Eberhard Rhein, Advisor to the European Policy Centre in Brussels, gave an outlook on the energy supply of the coming decades. He emphasized the existential necessity of energy policy cooperation between the European Union and the Arab countries bordering the Mediterranean.

The subsequent talks and discussions in a relaxed atmosphere made the first advisory board meeting an interesting and worthy kick-off event.
