New Strategy Launched: Shaping the Future with Africa
After months of consultation, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) launched its new Africa Strategy in Berlin. It was developed in 2022 together with European and African stakeholders from, among others, politics, the economy, and civil society, such as the EMA.
At the conference „joint Perspectives: Cooperation with Africa in Times of Change“, EMA Secretary General Clara Gruitrooy met H.E. Minister Svenja Schulze who stated in her speech that „We need a genuine African-European partnership“.
Creating jobs and employment opportunities that have positive social and ecological effects and strengthen women are at the core of the new Strategy. Examples of such initiatives include partnerships for digitalization, food security, feminist, development policy, green energy, and sustainable supply chains.
The EMA has proven during more than a decade its commitment to these goals with numerous related projects in North Africa. We will also be a dedicated partner in the implementation of the new Strategy.
