Networking Reception in Jordan – Strengthening Intercultural Connections

The OUISSAL Kick-Off in Jordan concluded with a networking reception co-organised with GIZ Jordan’s Innovative Private Sector Development (I-PSD) Project and hosted at the Princess Taghrid Institute (PTI) in Amman.

At the heart of the evening was connection. Representatives from the public and private sectors, civil society, I-PSD stakeholders, and OUISSAL participants from Jordan, Lebanon, Algeria and Germany came together to exchange experiences and ideas. The reception also offered the opportunity to continue discussions in an informal setting while enjoying a traditional Jordanian dinner.

The evening was attended by several distinguished guests, including Her Excellency Maha Ali, Secretary General of the Jordanian National Commission for Women, who expressed her strong support for the programme. She reflected on first learning about OUISSAL through the German-Arab Women’s Forum in Berlin, where she met OUISSAL’s founder, Clara Gruitrooy, and shared her appreciation for seeing the programme implemented in Jordan.

We were also honoured by the presence of Mr Guido Kemmerling, Chargé d’Affaires of the German Embassy in Amman, who welcomed OUISSAL to Jordan and emphasised the importance of cross-cultural exchange in addressing the socio-economic challenges of the region.

In her remarks, OUISSAL founder Clara Gruitrooy highlighted her pride in the programme’s growing community, noting that hundreds of women have participated over the years and continue to remain connected, committed to learning, sharing and growing together through the mentoring journey.

Our sincere thanks go to OUISSAL mentor Dr Aghadir Jwaihan, General Director of the Princess Taghrid Institute, for her warm hospitality and inspiring words of welcome. Drawing on her experience as a mentor, she emphasised the transformative power of mentoring and its lasting impact on women’s professional paths.

We would also like to thank the GIZ Innovative Private Sector Development (I-PSD) team — Elisaveta Kostova, Yasmin Taba and Ziad Maayta — for co-organising this event and for laying the foundation for future cooperation and long-term partnerships.
