Annual Reception 2017
- August 25, 2017
“If the EMA did not exist, it would have to be invented.”
On August 25, members and partners of EMA gathered in Berlin for a very special annual reception at the premises of Saxonia Systems AG: EMA presented its new Berlin representative office to the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi). From now on, EMA will be represented at “Am Hamburger Bahnhof” in the immediate vicinity of the government district, a perfect fit for the Länderverein.
The annual reception also gave the opportunity to get to know the new management team, which was unanimously elected by the general meeting, with an energetic board of directors: the office of honorary president will from now on be strengthened by former Federal President Christian Wulff. In the Presidium, with Gabriele Groneberg as President and Clara Gruitrooy as Secretary General, the fate of the EMA is decisively guided by two women. EMA founder Dr. Abdelmajid Layadi will represent EMA in future as Vice President. Together with the newly constituted Board of Directors, the Presidium will actively promote the important tasks of the country association in the future.
In his welcome address, the newly appointed Honorary President Christian Wulff, former Federal President of Germany, emphasized that the Mediterranean Sea represents a link between Europe, Asia and Africa and thanked all EMA members, partners and friends expressly for their commitment in this region. He expressed his wish to the new board of directors that further win-win situations will be created and that the important work of EMA for the neighbourhood and the growing together of the region will continue to be actively implemented.
“If the EMA did not exist, it would have to be invented”, Mrs. Groneberg, newly elected president, added afterwards. “Comprehensive and at eye level – this is how EMA is committed to concrete projects with the Arab countries. This valuable work deserves every measure of support”.
At the following buffet with a view of the BMWi, stimulating discussions were held and plans for the coming EMA year in new constellations were forged.
