Online Roundtable Saudi Arabia – Preparation for the October Delegation

With around 50 participants, the online roundtable on Saudi Arabia, held on August 28, attracted great interest. The exchange focused on the upcoming delegation trip to Saudi Arabia in October, organized by EMA e.V. The delegation will include conferences at local chambers of commerce, company visits, trade fairs, and networking events. Discussions centered on market entry strategies and opportunities in Saudi Arabia, particularly in the context of Vision 2030 reforms, economic diversification, and the country’s growing global significance. Leading Saudi and German business representatives shared insights on navigating cultural differences, exploring investment opportunities, and promoting economic cooperation between both countries.

Opportunities for German Companies in Saudi Arabia
Ida Beerhalter highlighted the opportunities and challenges for German firms in Saudi Arabia. She emphasized the importance of understanding Vision 2030, navigating local structures, and building strong relationships. Adaptability to Saudi regulations and thorough research were identified as crucial. In response to questions about challenges for women in business, she pointed to the country’s increasing openness but stressed the need for respect toward cultural norms. Her own experiences as an entrepreneur in Saudi Arabia have been consistently positive.

Saudi Arabia’s Investment Opportunities
Rakan Algaraawi presented the diverse investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia, including a diversified economy, a strong SME ecosystem, and the ambitious goals of Vision 2030. He highlighted available financing options, competitive advantages, and special economic zones that attract international investors. He also outlined mega and giga-projects such as the Red Sea Project, as well as upcoming large-scale events like Expo 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2034.

Support for Market Entry
Rosa Aljohani, Commercial Attaché in Berlin, presented several strategic priorities: measures to attract investment and improve the flow of trade information, promotion of entrepreneurial networks in Saudi Arabia, expansion of business opportunities, and targeted support for Saudi exports through a strong international presence. She also underlined the key role of her office in supporting German companies entering the Saudi market and in strengthening bilateral economic relations on a sustainable basis.

Sulaiman Aljurajat, General Manager for Saudi-German relations, highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership within the framework of Vision 2030 and referred to ongoing initiatives in the fields of innovation and digitalization.

Juffali Group’s Insights into the Saudi Market

He emphasized the importance of operational adaptability when entering the market and encouraged German companies to actively seize growth opportunities on the ground and to visit Saudi Arabia personally in order to experience the country’s enormous potential firsthand.

Conclusion and Outlook
The roundtable highlighted that Saudi Arabia is becoming an increasingly attractive market for German companies, offering diverse opportunities. The presented prospects in key industries, the dynamic economic development, and the upcoming delegation in October provide an excellent opportunity to deepen existing contacts and establish new partnerships. With the next organizational steps underway and the commitment of all stakeholders, preparations are moving forward for a successful delegation that will further strengthen the foundation for a sustainable Saudi-German economic partnership.
