The 4th German-Algerian Business Forum

Highly satisfied faces, new business contacts and several hundred participants: this is the conclusion of the 4th German-Algerian Economic Forum, which the EMA under the direction of its Vice President Dr. Ing. Abdelmajid Layadi from 24th – 27 th September 2017 in the Democratic People’s Republic of Algeria. The EMA has long been successfully active in the hard-to-reach Algerian market, a market which, thanks to the development of the EMA, can present its advantages to German companies.

 

Algiers: Cross-industry demand for German partners

To kick off the 4th German-Algerian Economic Forum, a conference was held in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Algiers (CACI) and the National Agency for Investment and Development (ANDI). With around 50 Algerian companies and several press representatives, the rush in the CACI was overwhelming and the reception was very warm and extraordinary friendly.

Tlemcen: Excellent science location with long German-Algerian relations

The next day, by plane, we went on to the proud and traditional university town of Tlemcen, where, among other things, the telecommunications company Sitel and Megapapiers are based. After the visit, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Tlemcen Region’s National Investment and Development Agency and the University of Tlemcen presented the region’s business, educational and scientific landscape and investment opportunities. Tlemcen is one of only four cities in which the Pan-African University of the African Union maintains an institute: the Institute of Water and Energy Sciences.

This was followed by a promising B2B session, a short excursion to the old Mosque of Mansourah and an exceptionally warm evening reception in the hospitable Algeria with representatives of the CCI Tlemcen, the ANDI, the University as well as some entrepreneurs of the region. Fethi Kherbouche also included an entrepreneur (Groupe Kherbouche), who had long been cooperating with German partners and who was able to give the delegation participants valuable suggestions.

Oran: Positive development of the metropolitan region with model character

On the last day, the delegation visited Oran, the second largest city and major port city in the west of the country.

The delegation was received there by the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The director of the Investment and Development Agency Oran and a representative of the industry and the mining industry of the Oran region also initiated a B2B session here, presenting the economic sectors and innovation centers of the region and the facts and figures of recent years stressed that the region has taken.
The final event was a company tour of the German company Knauf, which, with its social commitment and training program, is a modern model company and model for successful German companies in Algeria. The 4th German-Algerian Economic Forum has made clear to the delegation participants the enormous development potential of Algeria, which benefits from new legal framework conditions and an innovative private sector.
