B2B-Meeting Morocco within the framework of the “International Green Week 2016

Under the patronage of the Kingdom of Morocco

15 January 2016, 15.00 – 17.00 hours

Chamber of Industry and Commerce Berlin, Fasanenstraße 85, 10623 Berlin

For the first time in its history, this year’s “International Green Week”, the international exhibition of food and agriculture, presents a non-European partner country: the Kingdom of Morocco. The Kingdom of Morocco will be represented by a high-ranking and multifaceted delegation of decision-makers from business, politics and agribusiness.

Not least through the ambitious “Plan Maroc Vert”, the country proves that the agricultural sector is a key sector of sustainable (economic) development. With investments of around 13 billion euros, Morocco is pursuing the goal of modernizing and developing the sector. This also benefits German-Moroccan cooperation: Germany currently ranks seventh in Morocco’s balance of trade, with the share of agricultural and food products accounting for a considerable proportion of this and covering the entire value chain within the sector.

EMA, association partner of the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture and the Moroccan National Agency for Agricultural Development (ADA), is therefore giving its members the exceptional opportunity to expand their regional business and political networks and to meet with the 25 or so delegates in an exclusive setting.

Event language: German-French consecutive translation. The limited seats are reserved for members of the EMA and the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Take this event as an opportunity to become a member and benefit from our extensive network!

“The green pioneer of the region”

“The green pioneer of the region” is how EMA Vice President Gabriele Groneberg described the first non-European partner country of the International Green Week: the Kingdom of Morocco. EMA took this partnership as an opportunity to organize an exclusive B2B meeting between the Moroccan delegation and German participants together with the Berlin Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Moroccan Agency for Agricultural Development (Agence pour le Développement Agricole).

The event was opened by Christian Wiesenhütter, the deputy managing director of the Berlin Chamber of Industry and Commerce, who praised Morocco’s participation as a partner country of the Green Week. EMA Vice President Mrs. Gabriele Groneberg also joined him. With regard to the construction of the world’s largest solar power plant and the extensive agricultural developments in Morocco, she described the country as a “green pioneer of the region” from which Europe could also learn something. At the same time, she suggested that German companies should strengthen their commitment on the ground.

The Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Agricultural Development (Agence pour le dévelopment agricole ADA), the President of the Marrakech-Safi Chamber of Agriculture and the President of the Moroccan Umbrella Association of Agriculture presented the “Plan Maroc Vert” and highlighted concrete project and investment opportunities.

After the presentations, the participants had the opportunity to get into conversation over coffee and cake, to establish contacts and to plan concrete projects.
