Cooperation with Algeria

Our Secretary General Clara Gruitrooy visited Algeria this week to meet strategic partners and discuss joint activities!

During her visit, she attended a conference under the patronage of the President of Algeria H.E. Abdelmajid Tebbounee where around 1,600 lawyers and experts discussed the new Algerian investment law and its opportunities. Together with Riad Khalil Hassanain of the German Federal Bar (BRAK), Mrs. Gruitrooy was the German delegate to this conference organized by the UIA Union Internationale des Avocats. She was awarded a special recognition by Tairi Brahi and Fayçal Drioueche for her commitment to strengthening Algerian-German economic cooperation.

Bilateral economic cooperation was at the core of all further meetings. Mrs. Gruitrooy also met the German Ambassador to Algeria, H.E. Elisabeth Wolbers, and Head of the Economic Department Daniel Ramge to discuss current German-Algerian relations and the importance of concerted German activities. In a dinner with the renowned President of the Confédération Générale des Entreprises Algérienne , Saida Neghza, she discussed the important role of women in economic development.

Furthermore, she visited Hassiba Sayah in the UNIDO headquarters in Algiers and discussed current projects of UNIDO in Algeria and the Mediterranean as well as the potential to collaborate. She also received a warm welcome from Dr. Monika Erath and exchanged on the synergies between EMA and AHK Algérie – Chambre Algéro-Allemande d’Industrie et de Commerce, among others, in the fields of agribusiness, health, startups, and women in business. With Energy Cities Algeria Hasni Sidali, she explored potential collaboration in renewableenergies and energyefficiency, especially in urbanplanning in Algerian cities.
