The Project

The “Food Academy” is a project that aims at supporting entrepreneurs, small managers, and cooperatives in the agro-food processing sector in the region around the city of Ouezzane in northern Morocco. It is a business center for training and upgrading the skills of young entrepreneurs and SMEs. Every trimester, up to 40 participants profit from the expertise of Moroccan as well as international experts in the fields of quality controlling, marketing, administration and many others. To complete the theoretical knowledge, exploratory field visits to various production facilities in the region are conducted. The project also takes into account the development of vocational training in the partner organizations so that the sustainability of the desired results can be guaranteed, and the creation of jobs is ensured in the long term. This exemplary initiative can be regarded in the larger frameworks of the German-Moroccan cooperation structure and of Germany’s efforts to support the development and economic cooperation in North African countries to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
