The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Arabische Koordinationsbüro (Arab Coordination Bureau, BCA) have been working in cooperation with the German-Jordanian University (GJU) and the Goethe-Institute since 2008 to create the online dictionary ARABTERM. It is intended as a regional project by the German Federal Ministry for Econmic Cooperation and Development and the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation. Hamburg Wasser is Germanys biggest communal drinking water supply and wastewater disposal company. By unifying the two separate companies (for water supply and disposal) under one roof in 2006 it provides more efficient and sustainable solutions.

The Institute for Technology and Resources Management in the Tropics and Subtropics (ITT) at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences aims to enable people of various technical and cultural backgrounds to better solve the complex issues related to environmental problems with an interdisciplinary and intercultural approach at the graduate and postgraduate level. Studying at the ITT does not only mean achieving a master’s degree, but going beyond one’s professional and personal borders. In particular for bilateral projects between Germany and Arab countries there is a need for experts who are skilled in intercultural communication, being familiar with the culture, language and politics of both sides. The MSc IWRM has the objective to equip such experts with the necessary knowledge and skills and to promote the concept of IWRM in the context of German-Arab cooperation.

The IWRM Karlsruhe congress -launched in 2010- and its accompanying exhibition, aims to bundle the international know-how and hands-on expertise on the topic Integrated Water Resources Management. Haji GmbH is a company from Hamburg, founded and directed by Iranian-born Ali Eghbal and his German partner from Düsseldorf, Gregor von Endt. It is the company’s aim to bottle water from the UNESCO biosphere reserve Rhön according to an aesthetic concept bridging nations and religions. This concept has earned the company the Reddot Design Award 2010 for it’s water bottle. Apart from the natural still mineral haji water still and the sparkling haji water classic, the haji GmbH offers haji cola, made from spring water (and thus free of phosphoric acid), sweetened with natural date syrup and fructose.

Consulaqua is a subsidiary of Hamburg Wasser (established in 1980), and to keep focus of the latter completely on the operation and management of Hamburg’s water supply systems, it is responsible for external consulting and operation support services. The company works together closely with Hamburg Wasser and can draw from their knowledge and resources. The four main fields of activity of Consulaqua are water resources management, water supply, wastewater management and operation and management support.
