Business trip to Syria

under the leadership of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Syria in Hamburg, Mr. Hani Nasri

Date: 13 – 17 April 2011 in Damascus

Syria is one of the Arab countries that has pursued a successful policy of market opening in various sectors in recent years.

Syrian-German relations are traditionally close and friendly. Especially the sectors environment and water are a big challenge for Syria. This is an emerging market for German companies and products “Made in Germany”. There are potentials in the field of water and waste management. Wind and solar energy as well as energy efficiency are further focal points in the program.

Professional trip with visit and / or exhibition at WATEX.

In a unique combination, the companies benefited from participating in the technical trip. The program took into account appointments with relevant ministries as well as company visits. Upon request, we referred the participants to potential specific business partners. In addition, by exhibiting your innovative products and presenting your services at WATEX, they reached international companies and potential cooperation partners.

Even for entrepreneurs who did not exhibit but attended WATEX as trade visitors, a visit to the booths of the international companies and, of course, participation in the morning program was profitable.

The aim of this trip was to promote economic and business exchange between Germany and the Arab Republic of Syria in the sectors of environmental, waste and water technologies as well as renewable energy. This event provided the appropriate framework for German companies to gain a better insight into the Syrian economy.

The meeting with Syrian business and political decision-makers provided a comprehensive insight into regional projects, interests and investment potentials as well as much needed networking on the ground.
