Egypt’s Investment Attraction Strategy

The Egyptian Ambassador, H.E. Dr. Elbadri, highlighted the country’s strong economic performance, with a 5% GDP growth in Q4 2024-2025 and stable inflation, while Dr. Maha Zakaria presented data showing German investments exceeding $3 billion with 1,800 German companies operating in Egypt, particularly in the industrial sector. The Egyptian government has implemented reforms including a one-door policy for investment, a flexible exchange rate, and the Golden License system, while offering various incentives such as tax breaks, customs exemptions, and export supports. The presentation concluded with an invitation for German companies to consider investing in Egypt across sectors including industry, IT, agriculture, and green energy.

Cultural Sensitivity in Egyptian Business

Dr. Zakaria provided a comprehensive overview of the current situation, and it was confirmed that her presentation would be available through EMA for distribution. Dr. Mohamed Khalifa, a lecturer in Arabic language and culture at the University of Hamburg, was introduced as the next speaker. He presented on the importance of cultural and religious sensitivity during travel to Egypt, emphasizing the value of intercultural competence and the need to understand cultural differences. He highlighted the significance of building personal relationships and avoiding misunderstandings, particularly in business interactions. Dr. Mohammed Khalifa concluded by emphasizing the potential for cooperation between Egypt and Germany in various sectors, including resources, infrastructure, and renewable energies, and stressed the importance of intercultural skills for successful business in Egypt.
