Dr. Abdelmajid Layadi, born in Morocco in 1975, pursued his passion for economics at the University of Hamburg, where he earned his doctorate in 2007, and completed it with a postdoctoral fellowship at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg.
Dr. Layadi’s commitment to higher education and international cooperation is evident in his teaching at the University of Applied Sciences Bremen, where he specializes in the economy and society of the Middle East. His exceptional ability to bridge the worlds of real-world business and academia makes him a key advocate for international understanding and economic integration in the Euro-Mediterranean-Arab region.
In 2008, Dr. Layadi’s vision for founding the EMA in Hamburg received widespread support. Through his leadership and collaboration with dedicated colleagues and renowned figures, the EMA has become an integral part of the German-Arab network, promoting partnerships and dialogues between countries and regions.
After many years as full-time Secretary General and later as Vice President, Dr. Layadi was once again elected as Secretary General on December 10, 2024.
